Spearfishing NY: bluefish shot
Bluefish video shot.
slow motion first, then actual dive.
When the water is not too clear and there is not much fish around, I swim around the bottom, rather than waiting in place.
Pneumatic speargun, with camera mounted on the tip. My eyes are about 1.5 m, 4-5 ft behind the camera's lens.
A 25 inch / 63 cm bluefish taken by spearfishing.
First of the season. They are one of the harder local fish to take spearfishing.
They are faster and more alert than striped bass. They never seem to swim too slow. They are a voracious predators. This had a squid in its mouth.
I bled it right after taking it to improve the taste when cooked.
These days I always prefer to encounter and take a blue fish rather than a striped bass. There are less limitations on legal size and quantity. They are more challenging. They are also present in the Mediterranean and in the Black sea.
I also took a sea robin on the way out. I usually do not take those, as they are too easy and I let them be.

Dialetto bergamasco= Lingua veneta con inflessioni lombarde, che vi sia ben chiaro "Bergamum e Brixia" città presenti nella "Decima Regio Venetia et Istria", se poi durante l'occupazione napoleonica e austroungarica, per una comodità di gestione del territorio, posero le due città sotto l'amministrazione milanese, con ciò non fanno di quelle due città, città lombarde.
